Max's Place

Max's permanent urn arrived today! More than 8 months in the making. We are so happy with it and with the artist Chris and Funeria who brokered the commission for us. More pictures soon as the detail is amazing, but this shot gives you a sense of the scale of his place. OK, yes, take a step back and realize that we're excited about an urn to hold the ashes of our 7-year-old son... but in relativeland which is where cancer parents live, this is a good day.

Is it a light saber? I hope so!

Original instructions were:
- It should look like it could have fallen off of a P-51 Mustang; and/or,
- It should look like it could be a part of something that could launch itself into orbit, preferably at light-speed or beyond (hey, if they could do it a long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away, why not now?).
- Once the artist started showing us some of his ideas, it became clear that this was something that we could and should hold in our hands, so the light saber metaphor was adopted as well (which we feel was Max weilding his invisible hand of influence on the artist....), "make me a light saber" he said to him...

It is AWESOME! Exactly what Max would have ordered. I can't wait to admire it in person. Very, very special.

"A light saber" was exactly what I thought of when I saw the photo. How fitting and so beautiful. Very special.
