A very nice mom friend of mine came up to me this weekend and expressed her sorrow for our family and apologized for not talking to me sooner - but she simply didn't know what to say. I know this is troubling everyone - even me. I don't know what to say either.
Please know that a seemingly simple "I'm sorry" and a hug is huge. Really. I'll see you this week.

I might be speaking for all of Max's former classmates, I don't know, but at least I have this small and dark feeling of "survivor's guilt"....
My best friend's mom, when her daughter passed away at 24, said she always felt delighted to see us coming back to visit her but at the same time couldn't suppress the feeling of loneliness and jealousy as she saw us grow old and had our life's milestones (getting married, having kids, etc.) when her daughter remained forever 24.
I would like to believe and hope that even though you and I might strongly and sadly feel the absence of Max when Kent and I see your family next time, our friendship will last and we share the good memories of Max together.
with HUGE HUG and kiss,
Shiho
I wish I really knew you because I would go up and say "I'm sorry" and give you a hug. As a member of your cybercommunity that doesn't really know your family, I want you to know that I still check the site regularly because I miss Max and think about your family all of the time.
Continuing to pray for all of you...
Melissa, I am miles away physically..but I am always there in spirit as you continue on this new journey..Please feel a huge warm hug...a smile..and that I am living life to the max because of 'your Max'..Sending prayers and love your way. xo Linny

Hi Melissa-
Continue to think of all of you every day. Max's smile and sparkly eyes from your pictures is branded in my brain and I think about him all the time.

Miss him. So sorry that such a beautiful family had to lose such a wonderful boy. I am truly sorry and I think of him all the time and make a wish on a star every time the stars are out here on the East Coast. I, too, do live life to the Max, thanks to your Max. We are so blessed to have your sharing of him with us. Warm, kind thoughts for you both and Nic and Hannah. Many prayers are going your way. Max is at peace and looking down on all of you who loved him and all of us who knew of him. Peace to your family.

Melissa,
Jillian asked about Max tonight and it made me want to check to see if you guys had written anything recently.
I wanted you to know we are all still thinking of you guys. And also, that I love the pictures of Max with his curly blond hair.
